In association with local people from Tamang Heritage trail region, Trekking Experts is organizing this ‘Tamang Land Ethical Trek’ with a social cause to give job to local people where we go. Trekking Experts aimed to raise certain amount of fund and donate this amount to locals of Langtang region. The fund raised by this trip will be use for empowering socially excluded, poor and helpless people of Langtang region. Trekking Experts will help them to use this fund for their income generation, skill development, education and health support. Also, Trekking Experts will donate 25% of its profit generated by this trip to locals to help needy women of remote area of Langtang region. Previously, Trekking Experts has conducted one of the most effected programs called ‘Healing Haku’ to help earthquake victims of very remote areas-Haku (in Langtang region). It is an extended program of ‘Healing Haku’ project.
The Tamang Heritage Trail Trek is a newly opened trekking route in Nepal. It is one of famous trekking in route in Langtang region. It is an off-beaten track that highlights an ancient and a unique lifestyle of Tamangs with a mixture of the beautiful scenery of the nature. Trekking Experts offers you Tamang Heritage Trail Trek that allows you to to closely explore the rough history of the Tibetan ancestors and lifestyle of Tamang community. The Tamang people are mostly engrossed in their profession of agriculture and trading during the season time. The trail will take you to their settlement comprises of blooming rhododendron forests, green meadow lands, spotting of a local wildlife, majestic waterfalls and sacred lakes like Gosai Kunda, Bhairav Kunda and many more.

Remote areas, mountains, hills and ethnic groups of remote areas are the attraction point for tourists in Nepal. Every year thousands of tourists travel to remote areas for their trekking. But local people of trekking areas get benefit from tourists rarely. Tour operators, local operated by people from other places get benefits. Most of remote areas, there are only basic accommodation available and tour operators organize tented camp treks. Local people won’t get any benefit from tented camping treks; they only get lots of trash there. In order to help local people by giving jobs to them, Trekking Experts deigned and offers this ‘Tamang Land Ethical Trek’. In this trip, Trekking Experts will give job to guide from local, porters from local and also uses their services by buying their food, accommodation while trekking. Trekking Experts also will contribute 25% of its profit generated from this trip for local people of Tamang heritage route.
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan airport Trekking Experts representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. Upon arrival at hotel, our tour manager will brief you about trekking information and other necessary information. And then you’ll free time to explore Kathmandu. Dinner will be booked at the hotel.
After early morning breakfast, you’ll drive to Haku Bensi which will take about 5 to 6 hours from Kathmandu. You’ll head out of Kathmandu to the highway, slowly heading towards the north along a main valley road. You will come across many beautiful views of the river, terraced fields, small villages and snow capped mountains if the sky is clear. You’ll drive through lower route and reach Haku Bensi. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River, you will catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. From Haku Bensi, you’ll start tour first day of trekking to Sano Haku.
After breakfast at Sano Haku, you’ll start your trekking by trekking on steep trails ascents to Neising and then to Gatlang. On the route, you will stop by at the viewpoint that gives us the fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley. Then the trail descends to Goljung valley taking about an hour. For the next three hours, you will trek further reaching a beautiful and a traditional Tamang village. Gatlang is an idyllic settlement inhabited mainly by people of the Tamang ethnicity. You can visit the Parbati Kund which offers rich biodiversity for the nature lovers. You can also visit the ancient old monastery. Gatlang is also known as the ‘Black Village’ because of its unique posture of village.
After breakfast at lodge, you’ll start today’s trek by gentle descending walk passing the many Chhortens and Mani wall and through the deep forests until reaching Chilime which takes about 2 and half hours. Then you’ll cross by suspension bridge and climb up passing the terrace until reaching Gonggang village which takes about 1 and half hour. You’ll have lunch here. After lunch, the trail gentle ascends until reaching Tatopani. It takes about 2 hours. On the way, you will be passing by the healing bath and spa in the water of the natural spring at Tatopani. You can take natural Bath in hot spring as it is believed that to take a bath in natural hot spring, washes away all the Pains and aches.
After breakfast at lodge, you’ll trek to Thuman. You’ll trek through the forests and dense jungles as you slowly begin to gain elevation. The trail is up and down till Brimdang where one monastery is situated on the hill. It takes about 2 hours. After climbing small steep ascents, you will arrive at the Nagthali; viewpoint that takes about two hours. You will have lunch here. You will get a great view of Langtang Lirung (7227m), Shishapangma (8013m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), Tibetan Himal and other snowy peaks. There are small monasteries that you can visit. Then you’ll continue down to Thuman, a Tibetan influenced Tamang village.
After breakfast at lodge, you will start for your today’s destination to Bridim. You’ll trek across the valley on the other side of the Bhote Koshi River. The trail begins with a flatter section in the beginning and then descends to Timure on your way along the old trade route to Tibet and you’ll stop here for lunch. Rasuwaghadi, an ancient fort on the Nepal- Tibet boarder, is just 3 hours walk from Timure. After lunch the trail takes a steep ascent to Briddim, another Tibetan influenced Tamang village.
After breakfast at lodge, you trek to Lama Hotel which will take about six hours. You will head back down to the Bhote Koshi valley as you come across fertile jungle, terraced fields and pass through rural settlements with bamboo and birch groves. In this place, you might have the chance to spot rare and local wildlife like the red panda. Afterwards, the trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400m) through Bamboo which lies at the bank of the Langtang River. Following the trail, you reach the Lama Hotel.
After breakfast at lodge, you will trek to Langtang Village following Langtang River and upward through dense forests. Along the way, you might be able to some the snowy peaks ahead if the weather is good. Along the way the narrow river valley broadens out from GhoraTabela (3030m). In this area, there was once a Tibetan resettlement and currently, GhoraTabela has an army check post that will register our papers and a few nearby lodges. As you trek further you will come across Chyamki village (3230m); a small settlement. As we walk past Chortens, water mills, Mani walls and prayer wheels. After passing prayer wheels driven by flowing water and prayer flags, you’ll reach Langtang village. Langtang Village is a large settlement of mostly Tamang people with a nearby monastery. The village was destroyed devasted earthquake in 2015 which took lives of nearly hundred people. But again, lodges and villages are restored.
After leisure breakfast at lodge, today you’ll trek to Kyangjin Gompa. Today’s trek is short; you’ll be able to reach there at lunch time. You will pass by many small plateaus, big Mani walls, yak pastures, small villages and meadows. Since you will be walking towards a higher elevation, you can trek slowly so that our body can acclimatize to the altitude. Soon after, you will come across water mills, prayer wheels, sacred mounds of rocks with inscriptions carved on them. When you reach an ancient monastery called the Kyangjin Gompa. Kyangjin Gompa is another wonderful land of Langtang that is surrounded by the Himalayas and you’ll get stunning views of the snow-capped peaks.
Today is fully free day to explore around Kyangjin Gompa and surrounding view points. Today is also the day to let your body acclimatize to the high. Kyangjin village is a small valley and it has so much to offer for trekkers. After breakfast at lodge, you will visit the monastery that portrays the religion; Buddhism and you may also get to see the monks do their prayer. Cheese factory would also be another thing to see there. Besides these, you also have optional hikes to Langshisa Kharka and the viewpoint of Tserko Ri (5450m). Tserko Ri will be the highest point of the trek. Tserko Ri is the best place to see the peaks like Langtang Lirung (7227m), Langtang II (6586m) and many other peaks. As the sun begins to set, you will return back to Kyangjin Gompa. If you spend more time the view point, you have to bring pack lunch.
After breakfast at lodge, today you’ll return back to Lama Hotel following the same way. You’ll take small beak for lunch at Ghoda Tabela where the army check post registers your exit. After the leisurely lunch, you continue down through the dense forests of the river valley to Lama Hotel.
Today being the final trekking day, after breakfast at lodge, you will head to your destination which is Syabrubensi. The trail follows Langtang River, heading downwards to the beautiful river valley. Descending down through bamboo and birch forests, you will be seeing an amazing landscape to cross the Langtang and the Bhote Koshi rivers to Syabrubensi. And Syafru Bensi you’ll drive to Dhunche, the headquarter of Langtang National park and Rasuwa district.
After accomplishing beautiful trek, today you’ll drive to Kathmandu. After breakfast at lodge, you’ll be picked up jeep/bus for Kathmandu. About 5-6 hours drive to Kathmandu, you will be getting scenic views of the Trishuli river valley as you head through south of the hills. Along the way you will see the terraced farmlands and meadows and hopefully a final glimpse of the snow-capped mountains. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll be checked-in at hotel and will have free time to relax at hotel.
Today is your last day in Nepal and you can relax at hotel or do souvenir shopping for your loved ones. Also you can visit world heritages sites of Nepal. There are seven world heritage sites in Kathmandu which are very beautiful, interesting and meaningful. You shouldn’t miss to visit them. You may contact our tour officer if you need any support for visiting those sites and its costs.
