Dinesh Tamang

Dinesh Tamang was born and grown up in a remote village of Langtang region which is situated in Rasuwa district of Nepal. Dinesh was he was a brilliant student during his school period who always toped the class from grade one to high school. Because of his excellent performances in education, behaviors and involvement many social activities, he was recognized with several accolades. Besides studying while he was in school, he had actively participated in various social and awareness campaigns conducted by Nepal Scout, Nepal Red Cross Society (Junior), Langtang National Park and Langtang National Park Buffer Zone Committee. He had got training of discipline, humanity and hard-working through different trainings at Nepal Scout and Nepal Red Cross Society. Dinesh became of the first student amongst Tamang community from northern part of Rasuwa who passed out School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations in first division. The northern part of Rasuwa includes ten Village Development Committee (VDC).

After high school, Dinesh had worked for different non-profit organizations for several years and contributed high time for health care awareness, environmental protection campaigns and volunteered to save endangered animal’ Red Panda in Langtang National Park with association with national park, buffer zone committee and World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Because such impactful campaigning for natural conservation, National Park became the home of endangered species like Red Panda. Dinesh also worked for United Nations Project, World Food Program (WFP) as Store Keeper in his first term. Later he had lead WFP’s Mother and Child’s Health Care (MCHC) program for remote area; Haku VDC (Nine Villages) for a year. The biggest accomplishment of MCHC Program was to control high rate of birth, malnutrition of children of Haku VDC and awareness of family planning. After 2.5 years of working in WFP’s Project, he had worked for a hydropower company (Mailung Hydropower Company) as a Quality Supervisor.

As he fascinated by tourism and social work, Dinesh joined at the umbrella organization of Nepal’s all trekking companies; Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) and had worked as Coordinator for TIMS system for Langtang Region. TIMS is one the most effective trekkers management system in Nepal launched Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and TAAN. During his tenure at TAAN, he became one of the prominent members for significant changes and development of TIMS, exploration new trekking destination in Nepal. Explore of Tsum Valley Trekking Route, Fikuri Trekking Route, Shivapuri-Rauchuli-Gosain Kunda Trekking Trail etc are some of very important trekking trails which were lead by Dinesh Tamang.

As soon as he completed Bachelors’ Degree in Business from Public Youth Campus, he joined for full-fledge tourism. Dinesh had worked in one of Nepal’s leading trekking company as Sales Manager and he had proved himself as good manager with skills of communications, management and planning while his tenure there.

After accumulating knowledge and experiences from various sectors, Dinesh in association one of his closed-friend founded a trekking company in 2013 with aim of delivering high quality travel services with unique experience. Dinesh and his closed-friend founded at travel/trekking company called ‘Trekking Experts’. The name of trekking company is self-explanatory for what he does because he claims himself as one of the experts in trekking industry in Nepal as he learnt about trekking through deep study, exploration and dedication. His success and growth are the evidence of referring him as a ‘Trekking Expert’. Now, Dinesh is running half dozen companies in different field of businesses. His working experience in different sectors has been proven as assets for him and helped him to expand his businesses. Currently Dinesh Tamang is the Chairman of TE Group of Companies. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Trekking Experts Pvt. Ltd.; a finest travel-adventure company in Nepal. Also he is the Co-Founder of Tour Experts Pvt. Ltd.; a tour operator based in Kathmandu. Similarly, he is also Co-Founder of Cross Transport Service; a leading tourist vehicle rental service provider based on Kathmandu, Nepal. Dinesh is Co-Owner of a trading company called Vahi International Pvt. Ltd., Co-Owner of satellite communication service provider company i4 Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Dinesh also owner several restaurants in Kathmandu called CFC Café, Dragon Restaurant, shareholder of several hydropower companies, financial institutes and promoter shareholder of Support Society Saving & Credit Co-Operative Ltd.

Dinesh has earned good image for social contributions as he is involvement actively in many non-profit organizations. After devasted earthquake in Nepal in 2015, Dinesh started a project called ‘Healing Haku’ which was the most effective post-earthquake project in Rasuwa. His ‘Healing Haku’ project was designated as one the most effective relief program by many national and international media. As the Project Leader of Healing Haku, Dinesh was able to support 751 families (Aprox. 3300 people) for nearly two years. The activities of the project started with rescue of casualties from the field, providing relief materials which includes food, clothing, shelter, then relocation and re-habitation program such as budling school, houses, health post, water supply and income generation activities. He has also contributed with significant results in social sectors through different nonprofit and charitable organizations like Green Youth Tourism Development Society (GYTDS); a youth-led nonprofit organization for tourism development. Dinesh was the concept creator and Found Executive Member of GYTDS. In order to mobilize and help youth for development, Dinesh founded another nonprofit organization called ‘Haku Youth Society’ which is the youth club to help people from him birthplace’ Haku. Dinesh is also Found Executive Member and Currently Executive Secretary of Rasuwa Nuwakot Paryatan Samaj (RNPS); an umbrella organization of all tourism entrepreneurs of Rasuwa and Nuwakot District. Many new destination exploration programs were conducted by RNPS under the leadership of Dinesh Tamang. Dinesh is also one of founder member of Tamang Rimthim Tourism Network (TRTN); an umbrella organization of all tourism entrepreneurs from Tamang community. Dinesh is also Founder Treasurer of Save The Child Foundation. Recently, Dinesh has elected as ‘Central Executive Committee Member’ of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) for 2022-2025. Dinesh is also an elected Executive Member of Expedition Commission at International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) for 2022-2030.

Because of active and successful involvement in social works, Dinesh has recognized with several awards and recognitions by many national and international organizations. Dinesh has awarded as ‘Best Quality Travel Services Award’, in 2017, ‘Ethical Travel Guide Award’ in 2017 by UK-based nonprofit organization, ‘Best Travel Company for Social Work’ by GYTDS in 2016, and ‘Smart Mountaineering Initiator Award’ in 2017 by Nepalese Army. Dinesh never stops learning and exploration. In order gain knowledge he has participated in many trainings, workshops, ceremonies, events which includes training from Great Himalaya Trail to DFID, UNDP, TRPAP and other US programs. He loves travelling and tastes the authentic culture, cuisine and nature. He has travelled more than dozens of countries such as Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Tibet etc.
