Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan airport Trekking Experts representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. Upon arrival at hotel, our tour manager will brief you about trekking information and other necessary information. And then you’ll free time to explore Kathmandu. Dinner will be booked at the hotel.
After first night stay in Nepal, depending on flight time, you’ll transfer to airport. And then will fly to Badrapur. Kathmandu-Badrapur flight will be around 30 minutes via jetstream aircraft. From Badrapur, you’ll take a local jeep/bus at Badrapur and drive to Ilam/Phidim. The route to Ilam follows the view of beautiful landscapes. Ilam is Nepal’s largest tea plantation area and serves as a major tourist area even for domestic tourists. The picturesque town of Ilam hosts large orchards of tea plants and is also famous for the Himalayan chew made of cheese.
After early breakfast in Phidim, you’ll continue drive to Taplejung which will take about 4/5 hours’ drive. Upon arrival, you’ll meet rest of our staff such as porters and then you’ll begin a crossing on a ridge trail that offers us a beautiful perspective on the surrounding cultures. The trail follows through the upper valley of the Tamur River, the road twists and turns and offers tantalizing glimpses of snow-capped peaks ahead. And then you’ll leave the lower valley and the road climb up many hundreds of meters through intensively terraced farmland and via the small town of Taplejung to reach the airstrip at Suketar (2300m). Overnight at Mitlung.
Today, after breakfast, you’ll have a pleasant walk pleasant walk up the Tamor River and reach at valley which is inhabitant by the ethic Limbu sect; one of the popular sects in the north eastern part of Nepal. They are the descendants from the Kirati warriors who ruled some kingdom of Nepal before the modern Nepal says Nepalese history. You’ll walk further to Chirawa, a small town with few houses and local shops and we shall stay overnight at local tea houses in Chirawa.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll continue along the Tamor River, passing by small villages and personage farms with the huge amount of cardamom field and the rice terraced fields as well. After an hour and a half walking eventually, you’ll reach the larger village named of Tapethok (1340m) which has some shops and tea houses and a check-post of Kanchenjunga Conservation Area project (KCAP) where you have to submit your permits. You’ll have lunch here around and then continue pleasant walk beside the river and through the nice cardamom field to Pembu where you’ll begin a steady climb of a little over 2 hours to Lelep. Lelep is a big settlement village with a police station, health post and also where the headquarters of KCAP.
Day 06: Lelep-Ela Danda (alt. 2051m) After breakfast at camp, today you’ll continue to follow the Tamor River upstream through dense forest. You’ll cross the river on a suspension bridge and gradual climb through the pine forest for about 45 minutes to a small and old monastery (Sango Chhyolling Gompa). From here you’ll descend gradually to Goldwater (1800m) where you’ll stop for lunch. Afterward, you’ll pass two beautiful waterfalls crossing of the PhediKhola and then make a final climb of around an hour to our camp at Ela Danda (2051m). Magnificent view of Kasturi peaks and down to the Tamor River can be seen from here.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll walk through an Alnus and rhododendron forest until you reach a suspension bridge. After crossing the river,you’ll enter an extensive area of bamboo forest and some other trees, inhabited by the endangered Red Panda. If you are lucky enough, you may have an opportunity to catch a sight of one of these intangible creatures as you walk through the bamboo forest to the MaguwaKharka where the lunches spot for today. Beyond MaguwaKharka there is mixed forest with rhododendron, oak, chestnut, Alnus, maple etc., abundant with a different variety of birdlife. You’ll cross a large landslip area before SelepKharka (2525m) and you’ll continue another hour to get your night's stop at JongimKharka (2635m). From here you can explore a nice view of the snow-capped peak to the north.
Today you’ve very pleasant and short trek. After having breakfast at camp, you’ll cross a suspension bridge and you’ll enter into the rhododendron forest and climb for an hour to Ramite (2685m). There is a chance to spot Red Pandas as well on and you’ll pass another beautiful waterfall created by Tamor River. Then you’ll reach Sherpa settlement named of Olangchung Gola (3208m) for lunch. After lunch, you have a free day to explore the village and monastery. Olangchung Gola is one of the attractive villages of around 50 wooden houses and with a 470-year-old monastery which located at the top of the village. Olangchng Gola is pretty much the last civilization you will see until you reach the Arun valley.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll start today’s journey following the trails used by Tibetan traders walking beside the Tamor to its convergence with DinsambaKhola. Following the river belt,you will have a Lunch and then cross the river and will reach place named Langmale. And in further walk, you’ll reach our overnight stop at the place known as SanjungKharka. It is one of the nice camping spots for trekkers where you can discover the beautiful mountain surrounding.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll continue your journey along the route of the Great Himalayan Trail towards the Lumba Sumba Himal. You may spot snow leopards in this area. After passing little yak pasture and beautiful landscape and few foothills, you’ll climb. From here you’ll in the totally wild area, the habitat of the snow leopard. Finally, you’ll be at pass camp.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll climb the sharp ridge beyond to a prominent saddle toward Lumba Samba Pass and you may encounter snow on this section of the trek too. You’ll reach a first pass adorned with prayer flags but this is not the top and it is necessary to cross below a peak to reach a slightly higher pass which is the actual Lumba Sumba La (5177m). The views from Lumba Samba Pass will be breathtaking, extending eastwards to Kangchenjunga and Jannu Himalaya range and westwards to Makalu Region. From the pass, you’ll descent of about 600 meters on a trail which is steep downhill at first, into a large valley and you’ll stop at the first suitable camping spot at Yak Kharka around 4595 meters.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll descend passing by may yak pastures with excellent views of Makalu ahead with the varieties of Rhododendrons tree. Then the trail brings together coming from the Umbak La, a 5200-meter pass by which means goods are traded with Tibet and Nepal. After further trekking you’ll reach a village named of Thudam (3500m); a Sherpa village of around 30 wooden houses which is linked with villages in Tibet. From here you’ll head west through a steep-sided valley, having to several landslip areas before climbing steadily to a pass (3370m). And finally get to your Camp.
After breakfast at camp, today you’ll head west through a steep-sided landslide before climbing steadily and passes through a cavernous bamboo forest. The views of Makalu and its satellites are simply eye-catching. You’ll continue descending to a small clearing at 2877 meters, where you’ll stay overnight tonight.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll continue descending through dense rhododendron forest and then climb to a place called Yak Kharka on a ridge overlooking the Arun Valley. You can see the river below and in the distance, your overnight stop in the Lingam School (2320m). After continuing to downhill you will get to the Arun river where you’ll cross a suspension bridge and steadily uphill to Chyamtang where you plan to have a lunch. After Lunch, you’ll pass by Chyamtang and get to the Lingam School.
After breakfast at camp, in today’s trekking you’ll pass few villages among trails with the songs of birds. You’ll have lunch at a village called Gimber and you’ll have more stunning views of the Makalu Himalayan Range. In further trekking you’ll reach a Tibetan tribe village of Hatiya (1595m). This is the entry point to the Makalu-Barun National Park.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll start your journey following the trail through Arun River down to its confluence with the Barun River which carries the glacier's water of Makalu range. After lunch, you’ll continue along the Arun River to the small village of Gola (1128m). There are only around 12 houses here and the village is an interesting mix of Sherpa, Rai and Tamang tribe.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll trek in low land area. You’ll make a short descent on a pleasant trail to the lowlands. You’ll pass through fields of paddy as we follow the trail through the heaving hillsides above the Arun River. You’ll stop for lunch at the small Gurung village by Pathibhara which boasts a number of local tea houses, shops, and homestay. Beyond Pathibhara, the trail continues through a rich agricultural landscape to Gadhi (1179m) the ‘fort’ in Nepali. This is the spot where the Nepalese Army face up to invading forces from Tibet, eventually driving them back over the passes. Gadhi is a surrounded by the market town with shops and hotels as well as a health post, school, and police station.
After breakfast at camp, you’ll walk for your last trekking day of the trip. You’ll descend to the suspension bridge across the Arun River at Chiuribas. Chiuribas is connected to the road by a jeep track and after taking some refreshment with the local tea houses here; you’ll drive to Tumlingtar which takes about 4-5 hours’ drive by local jeep/bus. As the last day, you’ll stay at guest house tonight and celebrate successful trip.
After breakfast at Tumlingtar, you’ll say good bye to your trekking crew and take fight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu airport, you’ll receive by Trekking Experts’ representative and drop you to hotel. And then you’ll free time to relax.
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we’ll be met by our city tour guide for our day trip to a few of the Kathmandu valley’s most spectacular and important sights and some vibrant, colorful markets. With a meld of three ancient capitals and their associated palaces, temples and markets of Kathmandu has a lot to offer culturally and historically. However, we’re mindful not to overload you on your first day so will ensure the day has a good balance between sightseeing, exploring and relaxation time. The exact itinerary may change depending on the local conditions but we shall most likely visit: - Pashupatinath, one of the most important temples in South Asia to the Hindu God, Lord Shiva; - One of the three Durbar (Palace) Squares, a complex of palaces and temples which was formally the social, religious and administrative focal point of the ancient city. - Boudhnnanath Stupa, a wonderful Buddhist site centred on a huge Stupa topped with the all-seeing eyes. If possible we’ll come here in the early evening to soak up the atmosphere of hundreds of Tibetan and Sherpa peoples walking their devotional khora. And after tour back to hotel. Evening farewell dinner at local authentic Nepalese restaurant. Overnight at Hotel
