Mount Kailash Tour

Mount Kailash (6714m) is a very popular holy mountain in Tibet and is also known by the name of Tise, Kailash or Kang Rinpoche (Jewel of the Snows). Mount Kailash is sacred to the Hindus, Buddhists, Janis, and the Bonpos and taken as the centre of the physical and metaphysical universe. For the Hindus people, the mount Kailash represents the seat of the Lord Shiva. For the Buddhists people, it represents the cosmic Mandala of Dyani Buddhas and Boddhisatvas (which represents the Wheel of Life). The (6.714 m) is regard as “center of the world” by Hinduism and Buddhism.

 

There are several routes to reach Mount Kailash. Trekking Experts uses this short route to reach Mount Kailash. This  9-day tour starting at the China-Tibet-Nepal border in Kyirong, near Syabrubesi on the Nepal side. Itinerary

Today, You will be driving through bumpy road from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi China Tibet Nepal border, passing different Nepal villages, gorges, rice field, finally reaching the border, cross the border near Kyirong town, meet our Tibetan guide and driver and do the necessary immigration paper work. Our Tibetan guide and driver welcome you and drive to Kyirong town at the distance of around 27km. Kyirong town is a beautifully located in small forested gorge with lots of greenery things surround it. Kyirong is the birth place of Mila Repa who is the most famous Tibetan Buddhist Yogi who achieved the enlightenment once in a life time.

Today you will drive around 5-6 hrs on a very good paved road and the scenery is one of the most spectacular one during your journey to Kailash that you can see great Himalayan ranges and one of the most world popular snow mountain called Shisha Bangma (8200Mt) from the stop point of Pekutso lake. Besides a fantastic view of lake Pekutso will be appeared on the way and you can stop for photos surrounded by beautiful lake and snow mountain behind the valley. You will be crossing Brahmaputra river which starts it's source from Mt Kailash and flows through the western region of Tibet, Tsetang, the southern part of Tibet, Nyingtri, the eastern forest region of Tibet and finally it empties into the bay of Bengal in India. Saga is a small town with some government buildings and district Tibetan buildings.

Today, you will be driving in the valley with lots of nomad camps, Yaks and sheep are being grazed in the beautiful grass land. Once you see those nomads and their own live stocks, you will naturally feel the beauty of Tibet and her culture and custom. Paryang is a very small village with a few small shops, very basic guest houses and some families. You will continue your journey to Lake Mansarovar. On the way, you will see several different types of wild animals such as wild donkeys, wolves, foxes, ibex etc if you are lucky enough, I mean those wild lives are not certain that you can because sometimes they graze beside the main road, sometimes not that's why I am telling, if you are lucky enough. Of course today is also the most exciting day for you as it is the day of seeing the first spot of Lake Mansarovar and holy mount Kailash from a site called Chaktsal Kang where pious people do prostration to holy mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

Enjoy the morning around Lake Mansarovar and then drive to Dharchen. Dharchen was an empty spot where pilgrimages and tourists stopped one night while they were preparing their KailashKora but nowadays Darchen has become like a small town with full of Tibetan tents where pilgrims stay in and a few guest houses where the tourists stay in. On the way from Lake Mansarovar to Darchen, you can have spectacular view of mount Kailash , shaped like a cake offering.

Today is the first day of your KailashKora which is totally around 53Km . You start your Kora from Darchen and after like 2 hrs walk, you will face DarpoChe where there is a huge prayer flag pole which is annually replaced by the pilgrimages on 15 th of forth Lunar month, known as Saga Dawa festival, As well as Trulku monastery on your leftside up on the hill side. You can also see ibex and blue sheep running in the rocky hillside while you are walking and then you will reach DhiraPhuk which was a monastery before but nowadays you can only see the ruins of the monastery as the monastery was destroyed in the cultural revolution.

oday is the second of your KailashKora which is indeed the hardest day of your three days trek. You will have to climb up to the top of Drolma La pass which is more than 5000Mt. There will be three sloppy hike to get to the top of Drolma La pass from DhiraPhuk and then pretty steep down hill with rocky path all the way to the valley. On the right side of the down hill path, there is a small lake called Thuje Lake, meaning compassionate lake.ZutrulPhuk was the cave where Mila Repa and NagroBonchung debated for their religion sects and nowadays, it is a small monastery.

Today is the easiest and last day of your Kailashkora as you will trek down in the valley with beautiful distant scenery of Rakshas Tal lake . From here you will depart your Yak men and kind Yak and shift to jeeps. You will meet your drivers and continue your tour Saga via passing by Horqu from where you will say goodbye to Mansarovar lake and Mt Kailash. We will be driving on the same way back and again enjoy the vast grassland of western Tibet plateau with beautiful nomad camps and their livestock.

Today you will drive around 5-6 hrs on a very good paved road and you will cross the Brahmaputra river, enjoy the most beautiful view of Pekutso lake, crossing Guangthang la pass at the elevation of over 5200mts above sea level. You will also see a beautiful view of Shisha Bangma snow mountain.

Drive down to the China Tibet Nepal border through the zigzag roads at the distance of 27Km. Once you get to the border, say good bye to our Tibetan team, Walk across and reach Syabrubesi at Nepalside , meet by our representative from Nepal , clear immigration procedure and obtain your Nepali visa & transfer to Kathmandu . Driving up and down in the forested mountain with beautiful villages on the slops of the both side mountains and after driving around 8 hours, you will finally arrive in Kathmandu.
