This trek is a combination of visiting remote villages, views of magnificent snowcapped mountains,yaks, narrow gorges, canyons beautiful forest, glacier, high pass of Kang La(5200m), and highest trekking pass Thorong La Pass.

 

Naar & Phu Valley Trek with Trekking Experts begins with driving from Kathmandu to Jagat and hike on the Annapurna circuit trail to Koto and from there you’ll head towards Naar & Valley from Meta. The trail follows the Marshyangdi River towards to valley and the narrow forest entrance opens up to a huge expansion of snowy peaks of mountains Kang Garu and Pisang and several other passes, ancient villages and monasteries. You will also encounter several wild animals like yaks and blue sheeps during the trek. You’ll have great views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tilicho peak while crossing 5200-meter Kang La Pass. After Kang La Pass, you’ll visit amazing Manang village, sacred Muktinath temple and Jomsom-the headquarter of Mustang. Trekking Experts offers Naar & Phu Valley Trek in both tea-house trek and tented camp trek too. Lodge/tea houses in this area are very basis which some may not meet your expectation and there are very less choices of meals during the trek. So we offer Naar & Phu Valley Trek in tented camp.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan airport Trekking Experts representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. Upon arrival at hotel, our tour manager will brief you about trekking information and other necessary information. And then you’ll free time to explore Kathmandu. Dinner will be booked at the hotel.

After early morning breakfast at hotel, you’ll start your journey with a scenic drive to Bensi Sahar. From Bensi Sahar, you’ll be driven to Jagat by local jeep. During the drive to Bensi Sahar, you’ll can see beautiful scenery along the way of rivers, terraced fields, villages and sights of the snowy mountains, including Ganesh and Manaslu. Eventually, you’ll turn off from the main highway to Pokhara and head north to the large bazaar area of Bensi Sahar and then continue to Syange, then pass the road through paddy fields and Tibetan villages of Jagat where drive ends.

After breakfast, you’ll start your first day of walking. Today’s trail goes gradually uphill to Chame and cross another suspension bridge and follow the steep rocky trail until reaching Tal village. You can see again very beautiful waterfalls in Tal. You have lunch break here. You’ll continue straight and cross the suspension bridge near Lower Dharapani. You continue a little more hiking and arrive in Higher Dharapani.

After breakfast, todayyou will enter Naar&Phu Valley which will take you around four to five hours. You will trek through pine and fir forests, monasteries and villages to Bargarchhap., You can enjoy the spectacular mountain views of Annapurna II and Manaslu and other peaks along the way. Trail continues through pine forests till Latamarang which takes about one and half hour.Finallyyou will reach Koto, a small village inhabited by Gurung communities.

After breakfast, your guide will register your trekking permits at check post and you will trek along the banks of SotiKhola through wonderful pine forests, pass suspension bridges and cascading waterfall and reach Dharamshala which takes about five hours. You’ll continue trekking further for about one and half hour through forest ascending steeply till Meta village on the Tibetan Plateau. The views of Annapurna II and LamjungHimal look great from here.

After breakfast, today you’ll trek to Phu Gaon (village). You will ascent and descent trail along with suspension bridges, you’ll reach the deserted fields of Chyaku. You’ll get excellent views of the Annapurna and reach Kyang, where you can see outstanding views of Pisang Peak and Annapurna II. Then you’ll pass the Phu Khola on a rocky trail past the submarine rocks and maybe some campsites until Phu village which takes about 3 hours. You will see the colorful Chhortens that Nar and Phu are famous for as well as blue sheeps. You’ll get to experience the diversity of culture, nature, religion and people’s daily lives. You’ll visit Tashi Lhakhang Monastery. You will continue walking across a small glacial stream to a larger glacier stream with a half bridge. An after hour and half you will reach the Phu gate leading to Phu Village. View of Himlung Himal and other snow peaks can be seen clearly from here.

After breakfast, today you’ll trek to another unique village called Naar. You’ll descend down the valley passing several streams and suspension bridges until Mahendra Pul , which takes about four hours and then will walk up to a junction where the trail branches off to reach the small settlement of Naar Phedi.On the way you will see peaks of Kang Garu and Pisang Peak.

Today is fully rest day and acclimate day as well. You can hike to Tashi Lhakhang monastery and a hike to Himlung Base Camp (3-4 km) too.

After breakfast, you’ll ascend through the lateral moraine of Temdenzon Khola (river) on a pleasant path that passes yak pastures with defined views of west ridge of Pisang Peak. You will trek to Jhombu Kharka also known as Kang La Phedi at the bottom of Kang La Pass. You will cross Kang La Pass (5200m) is a very steep ascent to the top but it's not too difficult. It will about 2 hours to cross the pass. From the top of the pass you will be rewarded with the beautiful view of the Annapurna range and other peaks. Then three hours of steeply descent until you reach Ngawal village.

After breakfast, you’ll trek to Braga Village passing Marsyangdi River. You will explore the famous monasteries in Barga village. Then you’ll leave the trail off to Tilicho Lake on the left corner and continue a short walk up to Manang, a settlement of dramatic village. There are many guest houses, cafes and even trekking shops in Manang.

After breakfast, you’ll cross a stream and climb up to Tenki village then head out of Marshyangdi valley northwest up Jar Sang Khola valley. You will pass a few pastures and juniper trees and a small village called Gunsan with houses made of flat mud roof. After crossing a small river on a wooden bridge, you’ll make your way up the spectacular valley to an open, peaceful meadow known as Yak Kharka.

After breakfast, today you’ll head to the foot of Thorong La pass, Thorong Phedi. You’ll climb up to a ridge then head down and cross the Marsyangdi River on a wooden bridge. After a climbing the mountain path you’ll follow a narrow trail across a slope and descend to thorough Phedi.

After very early morning breakfast, today you’ll Cross 5416-meter-high Thorong Pass and trek down to Muktinath. Thorong Pass is one of the highest passes in the world, and the highest point of the trek. From the top of Thorong La Pass, you’ll will see a panorama of majestic Himalayan peaks extending northwards into Tibet and in the back, you can see several peaks of Annapurna. You will then descend all the way to Muktinath. Muktinath is a sacred place for Hindus and Buddhists. The Buddhists call it ‘Chumig Gyatsa,’ which in Tibetan means "Hundred Waters".

After breakfast at lodge, you’ll head down to Jharkot and Khingar where there are beautiful monasteries that you can explore. You will walk along the banks of Kali Gandaki River passing Kagbeni and reach Jomsom.

After very early morning breakfast, you’ll say good bye to your trekking crew. And then you’ll take a short flight to Pokhara. A scenic flight to Pokhara from Jomsom through the world’s deepest Kali Gandaki gorge will offer great views of mountains if weather permits you. Once you arrive in Pokhara, you can catch your connection fight to Kathmandu. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll receive by Trekking Experts representative and will drop to hotel. Then you’ll have free time to relax at hotel.

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, you’ll be met by your city tour guide for our day trip to a few of the Kathmandu valley’s most spectacular and important sights and some vibrant, colorful markets. With a meld of three ancient capitals and their associated palaces, temples and markets of Kathmandu has a lot to offer culturally and historically. However, we’re mindful not to overload you on your first day so will ensure the day has a good balance between sightseeing, exploring and relaxation time. The exact itinerary may change depending on the local conditions but we shall most likely visit: - Pashupatinath, one of the most important temples in South Asia to the Hindu God, Lord Shiva; - One of the three Durbar (Palace) Squares, a complex of palaces and temples which was formally the social, religious and administrative focal point of the ancient city. - Boudhnnanath Stupa, a wonderful Buddhist site centered on a huge Stupa topped with the all-seeing eyes. If possible,you’ll come here in the early evening to soak up the atmosphere of hundreds of Tibetan and Sherpa peoples walking their devotional khora. And after your back to hotel.
