Trekking Experts is very happy to share you good news about re-opening of Tibet for tourists entering from Nepal. After almost after three years of suspension due to COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese Authorities resumed taking take Chinese Tourist Visa (also called Tibet Travel Permit) Applications to visit Tibet for tourists who would like to enter Tibet via Nepal.

 

From March 15, 2023, anyone with a valid Chinese visa can now enter Tibet without having to apply for a new one, including those who have previously applied for a visa before March 28, 2020. It means that non-resident visitors shall be allowed to enter China only after submitting a COVIF-19 negative PCR test result, conducted 48-hours before departure, and shall not be subjected to any mandatory quarantine upon arrival. After obtaining Tibet Travel Permit, visitors can explore any regions of Tibet as they prefer.

 

Now, Trekking Experts started to take travel bookings for Tibet. Rasuwagadhi/Kyirung border, Hilsa/Simikot border will be opened for surface travelers and Tribuvan International Airport (TIA) will be opened for air travelers. From now onwards, travelers who are eagerly waiting to explore majestic landscape of mighty Tibet is finally possible.

 

What is the procedure to Visit Tibet in 2023?

As per the latest official announcement, China has been opened for tourists from 08th January 2023 with 48 hours PCR test, we suggest you have your travel insurance including Covid-19 insurance and Vaccination certificate.

 

In order to start your trip to Tibet, you’ll need to book/buy any travel packages offered by Trekking Experts. Once trip is booked, Trekking Experts will proceed and submit application for Tibet Travel Permit. It is important to note that independent travel is not allowed in Tibet, and travelers must go on an organized tour provided by a certified travel agent who will also provide the Tibet Permit. Since is it opened from March 15, we recommend starting your tour planning now but entering Tibet after April 1, 2023 only.

 

 

What document do we need to Travel to Tibet in 2023?

As per the new Tibet travel protocol, we need your passport copy, Travel insurance including covid-19 insurance, Vaccination card and a photograph to process Tibet Travel permit and some personal details to fill up application form.

 

How many days is advance we should book Tibet tour?

For Tibet Travel Permit, we shall need trip booking confirmation along your passport photocopy at least 20 days in advance for the documentation such as Tibet Travel permit and Tibet Visa process.  We required your original passport four days in advance once the Tibet travel permit has been issued.
