Ruby Valley Trek

Ruby Valley is formerly known as Ganesh Himal region. Ruby Valley is one of the best but less touristic trekking trails in Nepal. Ruby Valley is kind of hidden valley between Langtang and Manaslu trail. This trail is newly explored. Basic home/lodges are avail all along the way, but to keep mind healthy and balanced diet, Trekking Experts offers you Ruby Valley Trek in tented camp. Trekking in Ruby valley offers you memorable experience of authentic local culture, meet and explore the ethnic groups reside in this region such as Tamang, Gurung, Magar and Dalit and beautiful scenery of Ganesh Himal Range, Lamjung Himal (6800m), Langtang Lirung (7234m), Manaslu (8163m) and several other peaks. Also you’ll witness two amazing waterfalls, Ganga and Jamuna. Ruby Vallye is home to diverse species of herbal plants and minerals like ruby, crystal and zinc, the trail is even more beautiful as we get a glimpse of exotic floras and faunas.

 

Ruby Valley Trek with Trekking Experts begins from about six hours drive to Syabru Bensi. The road till Syafru Bensi is adventurous with narrow and rocky paths. You’ll drive through Langtang National Park, where you’ll start to see enchanting floras and faunas. You’ll head towards Gatlang (2337m) and will explore the beauty of the Tamang culture and tradition. From Somdang (3271m), you will explore the zinc, copper, crystal and ruby mines. Next, you will traverse through the marvelous Pangsang Pass (3842m) to reach Tipling (2087m) and from the pass you’ll witness a panoramic view of the Himalayas, embellished with diverse terrain farmland, green meadow and rocky hills. And trek ends at driving back to Kathmandu from Dading Bensi.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan airport Trekking Experts representative welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. Upon arrival at hotel, our tour manager will brief you about trekking information and other necessary information. And then you’ll free time to explore Kathmandu. Dinner will be booked at the hotel.

After breakfast at hotel, today you’ll be picked up our trekking guide and will drive to Syafru Bensi. About six hours’ drive in Pasang Lhamu highsway offers good views of Manaslu, Ganesh and Langtang Himal as well as brief glimpses of village life in the Himalaya. Your journey will follow Trisuli, Duhnche and Syafru Bensi. Dhunche is headquarter of Rasuwa district and headquarter of Langtang National Park too from where Langtang National Park begins.

After breakfast at camp, you’ll start your first day of trekking to Gatlang. The trail to Gatlang follows a narrow and twisty trail to Bahun Dada Pass as you’ll descend to reach Gatlang. Gatlang is a typical small Tamang village which famously known as the ‘Black Village’. But after devasted earthquake in 2015, now black village turned to colorful. You can witness the richness of the local culture and tradition.

After breakfast at camp, you’ll trek to Pravati Kunda, a natural alpine fresh lake. Lake is named after the famous Hindu Goddess Parvati, also the wife of Lord Shiva, this lake is considered sacred by the local people. From there you come across very few tourists in the trail. You’ll follow the trail through lush pine and rhododendron forest to Yuri Kharka. From there you’ll continue with your hike towards Somdang River via Khurphu Bhanjyang. A few hours walk ahead of here; you can see a shutdown mine. Despite being out of function for years, you can take a look around and explore the astonishing beauty of the place. The deep tunnel that was used to extract zinc, copper, tin, crystal and even rubies, has so much to explore even after being closed for years. You will spend the night at Somdang Valley with silence such great that you'll forget the reality of sounds for a moment.

After breakfast camp, today you to Tippling through the Pangsang La Pass accompanied by stunning mountains and spectacular landscape. You’ll also witness the panoramic view of Mount Manaslu and Ganesh Himal Range. You’ll further descend to Tipling village passing through dense fir forests and rhododendron. Tipling is a small village, but it ensures to give us the memory of a lifetime with its beauty.

After breakfast at camp, you’ll follow the main trail to Sertun (1920m) and on to Boran (1560m). As you enter Boran there is a stone house on the right-hand side of the trail. Next to this house is a stone staircase that cuts down through the northern edge of the village to the Akhu Khola below. Either camp in the school grounds at the centre of the village, or descend to the river, cross a suspension bridge and camp in a small grassy field beside the Lapa Khola (1285m). From just beyond the riverside campsite, cross another suspension bridge to the true right bank and begin the long climb to Lapa Gaon (1850m), a large Tamang village, where there is a small teahouse towards the top of the village and the school grounds can make a good campsite. Unless someone in your group knows the trail ahead it is wise to employ a local guide from this village.

After breakfast at camp, you’ll follow a steep trail climbs a hillside to the west of the village to a Chautara with views back down the valley (2200m). And then you’ll now enter a section of mixed forest with many trails. After 70 minutes you reach a Kharka with a Dharamsala. The trail heads north-west up a gully with a rocky spur to the north. The gully steepens as it nears a ridge and the barely distinct Mangro Pass (2936m) which leads to the first of a series of shallow basins that make the next few hours and then descent into and then climbs out of the first basin to another minor forested ridge. After passing a Dharmasala, you’ll ascend an easy trail to a final forested ridge marked with a Chhorten (2975m) which the locals call Myangmal Bhanjyang. From here you’ll descend a good trail through forest for 25 minutes to Nauban Kharka.

After breakfast at camp, your today’s trail continues to descend, sometimes steeply, through dense forest to a bridge over the Richel Khola from where it is less than an hour to Yarsa village. As you leave the village, the trail swings north-west into the large Budhi Gandaki valley and in 30 minutes you’ll reach a trail junction, right is to Kashigaon, but you turn left and descend to the river. You’ll reach a bridge to Machhakhola (870m) in three hours’ walking. Macha Khola is the main Manaslu Circuit Trail.

After breakfast at camp, today you’ll do your last day of trekking to Arughat. The main trail south following the true right bank of the Budhi Gandaki will lead you to Soti Khola. It is a short and easy walk to the road-head at Soti Khola (700m), where our jeep/bus will be waiting for you. And then you’ll drive to Kathmandu which will take about 7-8 hours’ drive. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll check-in hotel and rest at hotel.

After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we’ll be met by our city tour guide for our day trip to a few of the Kathmandu valley’s most spectacular and important sights and some vibrant, colorful markets. With a meld of three ancient capitals and their associated palaces, temples and markets of Kathmandu has a lot to offer culturally and historically. However, we’re mindful not to overload you on your first day so will ensure the day has a good balance between sightseeing, exploring and relaxation time. The exact itinerary may change depending on the local conditions but we shall most likely visit: - Pashupatinath, one of the most important temples in South Asia to the Hindu God, Lord Shiva; - One of the three Durbar (Palace) Squares, a complex of palaces and temples which was formally the social, religious and administrative focal point of the ancient city. - Boudhnnanath Stupa, a wonderful Buddhist site centred on a huge Stupa topped with the all-seeing eyes. If possible we’ll come here in the early evening to soak up the atmosphere of hundreds of Tibetan and Sherpa peoples walking their devotional khora. And after tour back to hotel. Evening farewell dinner at local authentic Nepalese restaurant. Overnight at Hotel
