Canoyning in Kakani

Canyoning is an amazing adventure which is abseil down in the beautiful waterfalls, decent with a rock slide plunge into a gorgeous natural pool below the falls. And it is a “must do” water sports in Nepal. Canoyning enables your body and mind to explore the last forbidden places, waterfalls, gorgeous natural pools. This adventurous trip gives you the ultimate experience in abseiling, jumping, scrambling, swimming and sliding down to steep canyon walls and waterfalls. Canoyning can be done in many rivers in Nepal like Marshyangdi, Bhotekoshi Sunkoshi and Kakani etc. And it has different levels.


Trekking Experts (TE) offers unique canoyning trips in Canyoning Zone inspired by breathtaking scenery of untouched jungle, natural pool, waterfalls and in rainbow gardens. Among those canoyning trips, canoyning in Kakani is the nearest canoyning center from the capital city Kathmandu. There are two canyons Phung Phunye (185m.) and Chhahare (145m) located in the villages of Dhansar and Jurethum in Kakani area. Both the canyons fall in wonderful setting especially from Phung Phungye one can view the Himalayan Panorama of Ganesh Himal as well as Manaslu and Langtang regions while abseiling down from the canyon. There is ample water flow in all season as the area is at the altitude of 1325m from sea level which is neither very cold nor very hot. The canyoning spot is not far from the well-known hill station of Kakani famous for day picnic and view lovers. Also, the nearby villages do fish farming of world-famous Japanese Trout Fish.

Early morning drive to Dhansar village, walk 30 minutes to the head of the Canyon of Phung Phugye. Start Canyoning for 2-3 hours, return trek to road head, have lunch at the local resort / restaurant. O/N at local guest house at Jurethum Village.
