According to latest press conference held by people's government of Tibet Autonomous Region, starting from Aug, 30th, 2017, international tourists with valid travel documents (i.e. “Tibet Travel Permit” and “Group Tourist Visa” that we can help to apply for tourists) can enter Tibet from Nepal or vice versa via Rasuwagadhi and Kerung Port.
Now, instead of taking Kathmandu-Lhasa flight to Tibet, international tourists can again enjoy the adventurous Kathmandu-Lhasa overland journey.
After massive earthquake in Nepal on 25th April 2015, the main border between Nepal and Tibet (China) i.e. Zhangmu border was closed for foreigners who would like to travel to Tibet (China) from Nepal. Among them, Hilsa border is already opened and it is smoothly running however it is for only those people who would like to visit Mount Kailash. Other two major ports Zhangmu (Kodari) and Kerung (Kyirung) were closed. But after two years, the shortest and nearest border from capital Kathmandu Kerung border is now opened for all. Now all the trekkers/travelers to would like to visit Tibet can go to Tibet for trek or tour from this border. Trekking Experts is operating already trip to Tibet using this port.
