Nepal Is Open Now: No Quarantine & No COVID Insurance Required
Nepal has officially opened for travelers inoculated with Covid-19 negative or vaccines. Travelers can visit Nepal for their holidays or mountaineering from March 26, 2021 onwards. Travelers, however, will have to produce negative test result of COVID from within 72 hours prior to departure or certificate of completion of COVID vaccine.
Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal issued the new travel protocols on March 25, 2021 removing the quarantine requirements for foreign tourists who have got both doses of Covid-19 vaccine or who has COVID negative. As per new protocols, any foreigners can now visit Nepal via different ports including Tribhuvan International Airport. Also traveler can get visa from Nepali embassies and diplomatic mission in their respective countries. On-arrival visa facility will be available only from Tribhuvan International Airport however travelers needs to pre-approval for visa issued by Nepal Tourism Board or Department of Tourism through any travel/trekking agencies. On-arrival visas are not granted for tourists coming overland. The Indian tourists should follow the arrangement as per the Nepal-India Travel Bubble Agreement.
According to the new rules, tourists seeking on-arrival visas should submit at least four documents at the airlines check-in counters, before boarding the flight to Nepal: 1) PCR negative report taken 72 hours prior to their departure or documents proving that they are vaccinated with full dose; 2) a copy of a recommendation letter issued by the Nepal Tourism Board and Department of Tourism; 3) proof of hotel booking in Nepal; 4) and travel insurance covering emergency search and rescue and treatment throughout their travel in Nepal. Once tourists arrived in Kathmandu, they have to test COVID at own cost in Kathmandu and will be allowed for trekking or mountaineering once they got negate result. If they got positive, they have to stay at hotel quarantine at own cost until they test negative.
It means any travelers who would like to travel to Nepal have to be come through any local travel/trekking agencies. Nepal Tourism Board or Department of Tourism will issue recommendation letter for on-arrival visa upon request of licensed travel/trekking agencies only.
